Red & Near Infrared Light Therapy
Non-invasive light therapy designed to support healing, recovery and tissue health. Available as a stand alone session or combined with treatment.

What is Red & Near Infrared Light Therapy?
Red & Near Infrared Light Therapy (often called photobiomodulation) uses specific wavelengths of red and near infrared light to deliver light energy to the body’s tissues.
Unlike treatments that generate heat, red light therapy works by allowing light to penetrate the tissues, where it may support normal cellular processes involved in recovery and tissue health.
At Peak Motion Therapy, Red & Near Infrared Light Therapy is used as a stand-alone recovery session or alongside remedial massage when appropriate. It is one of several treatment options available and is selected based on your individual goals and presentation.
How can it help?
Current research suggests Red & Near Infrared Light Therapy may help support:
Recovery following exercise
Muscle soreness
Soft tissue healing
Joint health
Tendon-related pain
General aches and pains
Tissue recovery
Overall tissue health and function
While research continues to grow, responses vary between individuals and Red & Near Infrared Light Therapy is best considered as part of a broader treatment approach rather than a stand-alone solution.
What happens during treatment?
Before your session we’ll discuss your goals and determine whether Red & Near Infrared Light Therapy is an appropriate option for you.
Treatment involves relaxing comfortably while the light panel is positioned at an appropriate distance from the area being treated. Sessions are painless, non-invasive and require no recovery time.
Depending on your goals, treatment may be provided as a stand-alone session or incorporated into your remedial massage appointment.
We’ll explain the treatment process, answer any questions you may have and ensure you’re comfortable throughout your session.
What can I expect afterwards?
Most people find treatment relaxing and are able to return to normal activities immediately afterwards.
Unlike many manual therapy techniques, Red & Near Infrared Light Therapy does not usually result in post-treatment soreness. Some people notice gradual improvements over time, while others choose to include it as part of their ongoing recovery routine.
As with all treatments at Peak Motion Therapy, we’ll discuss whether this treatment is appropriate for your goals and how it may fit into your overall management plan.
Why Peak Motion Therapy?
At Peak Motion Therapy, Red & Near Infrared Light Therapy isn’t offered because it’s new or popular—it’s offered because emerging research suggests it may play a valuable role in supporting recovery and tissue health for some people.
Rather than relying on a single treatment approach, we combine thoughtful assessment, hands-on therapy and evidence-informed treatment options to create an individualised plan that supports your goals.
Our focus is always on selecting the treatments most appropriate for you, helping you move better, recover well and continue doing the things you enjoy.
